Handa's Surprise and Bowling!

This week we have been reading Handa's Surprise. The children loved the story, discussing how Handa lost her fruit. Sienna said "The cheeky monkey was silly and ate all the bananas up!" Darcey laughed and said "He's going to be so full!" They wanted to help Handa find her fruit and went to the learning area to do this. Together they searched high and low, looking in the pond and in the bushes. They cheered as they found all kinds of vegetables such as carrots, onions and parsnips. As they laid them down in a pile, they recorded what they found on their clipboards to take back into nursery and show their friends. With the vegetables they found, they spent time in the mud kitchen, making tasty vegetable soup, cutting up the vegetables and mixing them together with mud and water - great fun!

This week the babies have been bowling with bottles and a ball. They looked at the bottles for a while before having a go at knocking them down. Ines did very well knocking the bottles over and giggled picking the bottles back up and encouraging James to have a go. Ines passed James the ball resulting in a giggle from James. When the ball missed he ran over to them and kicked them down instead. Thomas and Xanthe had a go at feeling new textures with some flour and oil, clumping it together as well as sprinkling it around, and said “Yay!” when first putting her hands in whilst Thomas laughed and smiled throwing the flour on the floor and standing in it!
