Growing and Cooking at Molesey!

DSCN0400.JPG

This week the children have been enjoying the sunshine in our garden and around Imber Court. Whilst the children were out on a walk they saw lots of horses walking past with the police riding them. They waved at the children saying “Good morning” as they went past and the children were all very excited. Amelie said "Look, the horse is dancing!" as the horse moved along. The babies enjoyed looking for ducks on the river and the children all enjoyed a picnic snack.

Toddlers and pre school have been helping plant Courgettes, Tomatoes, Runner beans and sunflower seeds in our growing area. They have been watering the seeds every day using their own watering cans. Sam said "We have to water them so they can grow, but don't water me!" Thomas helped to dig the soil to make a hole for the seeds and noticed "It's a wiggly worm, look it's living in our garden" Thomas then went on to place the seed into the hole he had dug.

They have also been chefs this week and helped to make homemade pizzas for tea. They all mixed the ingredients together to form the dough and used the rolling pin to roll it out. Joshua said "Look, messy" as he carried on rolling. Albie observed that the puree was red. "It's red, that's my favourite colour I have red on my T-shirt". They enjoyed the pizzas at tea time and were very proud to tell everyone they had made them.

Babies have been taking part in sensory bubble play. They smiled and giggled as the bubbles were flying towards them. George was excited, crawling after the bubbles so he could catch them. Harry and Oscar both enjoyed sitting watching the bubbles coming towards them as they were both smiling making excited baby noises. They have also been exploring in the mud kitchen and sandpit.

Let's get physical!

The children have been showing off their skills this week, taking part in a series of physical activities. Some of the children wanted to relax with a lovely yoga session, stretching into various poses on their mat. They became trees and lions, as they stretched their heads up really high. Sienna said "I can touch the clouds with my nose, look!" They also practiced their roly poly's going in pairs, to see who could reach the end first. Some of them went over the top and some went sideways onto the grass. Bursts of giggles erupted as they went. The children have also joined in with a game of hopscotch, finding it fun to count the numbers as they jumped. Robyn said "I can jump the whole way to the end without stopping, watch me!" She kept going and going until she reached number 10. The other children were amazed and couldn't wait to have a go themselves - great fun!

This week the babies have been exploring the play park, the babies loved climbing up the slide and sliding down shouting yay and looking of the top of the slide before coming down with massive smiles. Ines held onto Xanthe and they slide down together with Ines saying 'go, go,' before shouting 'yay' when they began moving. We also had a go in the swirly chair, Rowan loved sitting in the chair and having a little swing around showing big smiles and having a bit of babble to herself and supporting staff member. We also played a little bit of football, James and Emily ran around the park laughing and shouting at one another, and when Emily caught the ball she laughed at James before waving her hand at him to come and get it saying 'Quick, quick'. Thomas however liked exploring the park wandering around and watching his friends try the equipment before having a go himself occasionally babbling at the children in supportive tones and excited tones when playing himself. They also had a go on the rocking horses, having a little race giggling to one another and trying to make the horse go faster than the others.

Let's explore at Molesey!

This week the children have been enjoying the sunshine and exploring our lovely outdoor area, and the amazing grounds of Imber Court. They went onto the big playing field to look for leaves and twigs. Thomas kindly said “I can help” giving the staff member a green leaf, “It feels crunchy”. Amelie saw a spider crawling along the floor and called her friends over “Look Albie, it’s a spider! ”. The children enjoyed running on the field taking part in ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’, Sam counted “1,2,3 its dinner time!” as they all squealed and shouted across the field. Back in the nursery garden the children took part in cooking a scrumptious mud pie on the camp fire where they were taking it in turns to stir the pie. Thomas called his friends saying “Dinner’s ready !” Ezra went on to say “It might be hot, blow it!” They all took turns sharing and investigating the different natural materials. The babies have been having fun exploring the back garden as well, especially in the water tray with the toys splashing and kicking their feet, giggling away as they listened to ‘5 little ducks went swimming one day’!

Hello Molesey !

DSCN0042.JPG

The children have all settled in well at our brand new Molesey Day Nursery where they have been loving the outdoors, exploring all the different areas around our garden.

This week the children had great fun rolling down the hill having races to see who gets to the bottom first. Albie said “It’s making my tummy go swishy’ They all went running up to the top racing each other to see who could get to the bottom first. ‘ I won!’ announced Ezra to his friends. The children have also worked together to help build a den, and as they listened to the rain hitting the roof. Amelie said “It sounds like a big bang!”.

They have enjoyed exploring within our sandpit building sandcastles. They have been making flags to go on top. Eddie counted “1,2,3” and knocked the sandcastles down giggling with a cheeky smile.
