A Snowy Welcome Back!
/Happy New Year and welcome back to all of our families! The children have been very excited to see their friends throughout the week after the Christmas break, with some children even running over to give their friends cuddles when seeing them walk through in to preschool. There have been many conversations with different groups of children, discussing what presents Father Christmas brought to them as well as talking about what their Christmas plans were. The children were very excited to return to nursery to see an ice filled garden, some even believing that the snow had set. When venturing outside to the garden to explore, a group of children collected some wooden beams and small blocks and were pretending to go ice skating. There was lots of fun and laughter going on whilst the children were trying to keep their own balance on the ice and also holding on to friends hands to help them keep balanced. Whilst playing in the tree house, some children were decorating it with blocks and rocks and discussing how they needed to decorate the tree house in Christmas decorations so that Father Christmas would know where to go to next year.
Whilst some children explored the wintery weather in the garden, some other children enjoyed some winter themed creative work inside, exploring play dough with nature objects such as leaves and cones, and painting some trees for the winter display board in preschool. Some children have been building habitats for various types of animals and working together to make a warm home for them, placing some grass on top of the blocks to make a roof. The children have also continued engaging in jolly phonics sessions at group times this week learning the ‘ck’ sounds and have been able to identify various words and objects that contain the sound ‘ck’. Whilst in the garden, one of the children called out, “I can hear some ducks and that’s ck, duck, ck!”
